My name is Andy Needham and I’m very much looking forward to working through this Cinema 4D R20 Essential Training course with you. It’s a course which focuses on motion graphics, and one in which we will be looking to make good use of the Academy Award winning MoGraph tools found in this powerful application from the team at Maxon. At the start of the course, we’ll discuss what motion graphics are, amongst some examples of work and core concepts including the motion graphics pipeline. From there, we jump straight into the MoGraph system and how to work with Cloners along with an overview of how to animate and work with the timeline.

I designed Cinema 4D R20 Essential Training: Motion Graphics course so that you would have a rounded foundation of the software and we will learn about Splines, and how to import Adobe Illustrator files, procedural modeling, and additional modeling approaches offered by the Volume Builder and Volume Measure tools, which are new features in Release 20. We learn about how to create complex camera animations by morphing between cameras, how lights work in 3D, and techniques for creating and modifying materials, as well as how to get work out of Cinema 4D for further work in post. One of the most notable changes in Cinema 4D R20 is the introduction of fields, a sea-change in the way we think of working with MoGraph, and a game-changer in how motion graphics will be created in Cinema 4D going forward.
