In this series of new SolidWorks training SolidWorks tutorial, we want to make a windmill blade using two tools: sketch bend sheet metal and SolidWorks sheet metal tool.

Making a model of this blade is related to an assembly training in another training, and the way it is made is modeled exactly like 80 years ago when they worked in this way. Today, the edges of such blades are made in more modern ways and are similar to modern turbine blades, and the blade angle is sharper on the inside and smaller, and their external angles are less angled. Its appearance is similar to that of sheets. It is a flat galvanized metal that is welded in some parts.

We want to make a flat sheet of metal using SolidWorks sheet metal, make several cuts, connect its structural parts, front blade, etc. Then, using the sketch bend tool, bend it and make a cylindrical shape. Let’s make it.

We will also solve common limitations and problems and explain the solution to each of them. And we will explain the errors and mistakes that may occur during the sheet metal geometry tool. We also show solid modeling techniques and will complete this tutorial by making a simple sheet metal rivet.

Finally, using two important tools (SolidWorks sheet metal tool – sketch bend feature), we will model a 3D model of a blade that was probably made about 80 years ago.
